Moomba Carbon Capture FEED
Client:
Santos
Location:
Southern Australia
Project Summary:
Following the successful Concept Study and PreFEED phases, Equinox successfully executed the FEED stage of the Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) project for Santos.
Based on capital installation costs, operation expenses, and historical process experience, Equinox recommended recovering CO2 from the Moomba facility (Train 3), followed by TEG dehydration, compression and high-pressure pipeline to the Gidgealpa injection wells.
The Cooper Basin CCS FEED will take the results of the earlier CCUS Concept Select Studies and modify them such that the facility at Moomba can be used either for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) or Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).
This FEED was be divided into two phases. Phase 1 to adapt the existing Moomba facility concept into a CCS application, targeting a reduced cost per tonne of CO2, and will allow an overall project FEED entry decision. Phase 2 will be the development of a full-scale CCS facility design.
