Power Generation
Equinox has a significant background in power generation, co-generation, and waste heat recovery. Many of our facility design projects are in remote locations, away from grid line power and requiring power generation and HV facility feed – primarily in the 5 to 60 MW range. Our services included requirements related to power load, generation and distribution within gas plants, or to third parties.
Younger Extraction Facility – Power Upgrades
Equinox has executed numerous brownfield projects at this large (750 MMscfd) 1970s vintage extraction facility. Ongoing power generation upgrade projects includes switchgear replacement; transformer and substation upgrades; new 138kV circuit switchers install; substation transformer replacement; MV VFD, etc.
Kakwa River – Power Generation, Waste Heat Recovery
Equinox designed and installed the entire Kakwa Gas Processing Complex (200 MMscfd), which included onsite power generation was installed for all utility and designated process loads. This includes Three Solar Turbine – Taurus 60 gas turbine generators (GTG) were installed for 21 MW of power. These turbines were also fitted with waste heat recovery systems to provide process heat to the plant.
Glacier – Power Generation (15 MW)
Equinox designed and installed several upgrades and complete processing trains at the Glacier (400 MMscfd) sour gas processing facility. Power generation includes five (5) x 3 MW natural gas generator packages, with medium voltage MCC (4160 V) to supply plant and utility power.
Dawson – Power Generation (8 MW)
Equinox designed and installed the Dawson (120 MMscfd) sour gas processing facility. Power generation includes two (2) Centaur 50 Gas Turbine Generators (2 x 4 MW) were installed for the running load of 8 MW ,with medium voltage MCC (4160 V) to supply plant and utility power, along with an auxiliary genset (1040 kW) and low voltage MCC (480 V).
