Above Ground Pipeline
Equinox personnel have extensive knowledge and experience in heavy oil pipeline system design, material selection and construction. Pipeline experience includes design and construction of various pipelines including oil emulsion, fuel gas, water, steam, diluent (condensate or synthetic crude), and/or sales line (synbit or dilbit). Equinox provides consultation services from FEED, site and route selection, detailed engineering, procurement and construction management for pipeline projects.

Recent Projects
Kirby South
Design and construction of trunk and lateral pipelines to tie in seven new SAGD pads to existing infrastructure. Trunk includes 24” steam (high pressure & high temp.) injection, 20” emulsion (high temp.) gathering, 12” annulus gas, & 4” fuel gas pipelines. Lateral includes 16” steam (high pressure & high temp.) injection & 10” emulsion (high temp.) gathering pipelines. Included earthworks and design of road/pipeline/power/animal crossings.
Primrose South Flowlines
Provided Engineering, Earthworks Design, Procurement, Regulatory, Construction Support and Commissioning services for detail design of 4 mi (6.5 km) of ERCB regulated pipelines. This included 24” ABSA registered high pressure steam pipelines as well as 24” sour emulsion and 3” fuel gas supply pipelines on a common pipe rack. The detailed design of this project included all required earthwork construction drawings.
Primrose Pad 14 to 51 Flowlines
Provided Engineering, Earthworks Design, Procurement, Regulatory, Construction Support and Commissioning Support services for a retrofit project with design challenges related to manoeuvring new pipelines within existing infrastructure. Scope included the detailed design for 1.24 mi (2 km) of above ground, NPS 24” high temperature and pressure steam lines, following an existing line on existing right of way.
Primrose East Pipelines
Engineering, Procurement, Regulatory, Construction and Commissioning Support for 5 mi (8 km) above-ground steam pipeline. Includes 24” steam, 24” emulsion, 3” fuel gas, 8” casing vent gas. With installation of four parallel pipelines, challenges included space constraints for road crossings, valve stations, and well tie-in areas. Pipeline routing faces heavy challenges in remote regions of Canada, including muskeg and extreme cold weather.
