Papua New Guinea Projects

Equinox has successfully executed gas processing, pipeline, infrastructure and earthworks design projects in PNG since 2010. We have an acute understanding of the terrain, seismic conditions, weather, cultural sensitivities, local workforce strengths and capabilities, infrastructure, regulatory framework and how to effectively design for this unique landscape.

Stanley Gas Plant

The initial FEED and Detail Design was completed for a 140 TJ gas plant located in central PNG. The facility design included modular, logistical considerations for the remote, rainforest location. Process trains (2 x 70 TJ) contain inlet separation, injection compression (19,490 hp), mercury removal, refrigeration, condensate stabilization, (5,169 bpd), power generation, condensate storage (25,000 bbl) and produced water storage.

Elevala Gas Plant

The initial FEED was completed for a 210TJ gas plant with 12,000 bpd of condensate located in central PNG. Scope includes two (2) x 50% processing trains (inlet coolers, inlet separators, mercury removal skids, refrigeration plants, injection compression (20,000 hp), power generation and condensate storage (2 x 25,000 bbl).

Kiunga Condensate Terminal NGL Storage Facility (75,000 bbl)

FEED and Detail Design for a Condensate Terminal including floating roof Condensate Storage Tank (75,000 bbl), two centrifugal condensate loading pumps, diesel storage, lube oil storage, and power generation. The facility design includes a connecting 2 km x 12” condensate pipeline to deliver up to 88,000 bpd from the terminal to the Fly River Barge Loading Facility.

Fly River Barge Loadout Facility

Engineering Design for a facility to load condensate onto river-going transport tankers that travel from in-land Kiunga, down the Fly River, out and across the gulf of Papua across to Port Moresby. As water levels in the Fly River fluctuate up to 4 metres annually, this requires a specialized, flexible loading facility.

Stanley to Kiunga Pipelines

Numerous pipelines have been planned for the overall program, including the 40 km x 6” liquids pipeline that transports condensate from the Gas Plant to the Kiunga Terminal routed through dense, jungle terrain in an active seismic (earthquake) zone. Also a 2km section of 12” composite steel pipeline would connect Kiunga to the Fly River Loadout.

Elevala Pipelines

Numerous pipelines have been planned for the overall program, including infield production, injection and condensate export inclusive of raw gas, water and condensate. The 80 km x 8” liquids pipeline would transport condensate from the Gas Plant to the Kiunga Terminal routed through dense, jungle terrain in an active seismic (earthquake) zone.
