Moomba Carbon Capture & Sequestration

Moomba Carbon Capture & Sequestration

Client:

Santos

Location:

Southern Australia

Project Summary:

Equinox is currently executing Detail Design of the Moomba CCS project – the lowest lifecycle cost and second largest CCS project underway globally. The Moomba Gas Plant is located approximately 750 kilometres north of Adelaide in the remote region of the Strzelecki desert. It currently has four Benfield Trains in operation that provide a source of low pressure, water saturated CO2 gas. The project includes the capture of 96% purity CO2 from existing Benfield processing units. The new CCS facility will capture a volume of 1.7 mpta of CO2 for carbon dioxide sequestration. Utilizing large centrifugal compression for wet CO2, the compressed gas stream is dehydrated, and supercritical, dense phase CO2 transported via pipeline to injection reservoir. Read More.
